Musculoskeletal and Cervical Ultrasound

Course Objectives

  • The main objective of this course is to enhance the participant’s skills and knowledge to utilize ultrasound in clinically relevant musculoskeletal and cervical regions
  • Review relevant normal anatomy and scanning tips for superficial cervical and clinically-relevant musculoskeletal regions
  • Discuss indications for musculoskeletal scanning for the diagnosis of shoulder injuries, brachial plexus tumors, iliopsoas muscle and calcaneal tendon injuries, etc.
  • Discuss indications for cervical scanning, including diagnosis of parathyroid adenomas, thyroid disease, cervical abscess and mass lesions, and laryngeal dysfunction
  • The course will be divided between lecture and hands-on lab instruction
  • The lecture component is presented by a board certified specialist. The lab will be structured to reinforce the normal anatomy and will introduce scanning techniques for the main regions covered in lecture

Who should attend

  • This course is for veterinarians and technicians who have completed the Basic and Intermediate Soft tissue Ultrasound courses, or who have lesser ultrasound experience but want to enhance a particular clinical area in their practice (eg. Work-up of lameness) are also welcome to attend.
