  • Honing Your Sonographic Diagnostic Skills “Blending the Medicine with the Sonogram”

Parts 1 and 2 (taught by a Boarded Specialist)

    • This course will include a 2 part lecture series regarding the clinical and sonographic presentations of all major organ systems in canine, feline, and ferret medicine
    • The approach for Parts 1 and 2 will take the attendee from the moment the patient presents to the clinician, through the clinical workup, and culminating with the sonographic presentation, followed by a brief summary of the clinical outcome
    • The objective of the course is to aid the clinical sonographer to recognize and integrate the sonographic pathology into the clinical workup, recognize the pathological tendencies, and stimulate clinical objectivity
    • Sampling techniques, recommendations, and procedures will also be addressed.

    • Sampling techniques, recommendations, and procedures will also be addressed. Parts 1 and 2 will be accompanied by a short hands-on scanning session reinforcing techniques
  • Honing Your Sonographic Diagnostic Skills “Blending the Medicine with the Sonogram”

Part 3 (taught by a Boarded Specialist)

    • Discussion of common disease conditions as well as case-based discussions in small animal (canine and feline) medicine will be presented
    • Case discussions will follow the problem-oriented approach, and will include initial case evaluation leading to the ultrasound exam, integration of the ultrasound findings and other diagnostic tests into the case as a whole and case management
    • Attendee participation, case presentation and discussion will be encouraged (please submit any case material for class discussion prior to the course)
    • This course will cover a basic to intermediate level of the abdomen, encompassing anatomy, physics, principles, knobology, image acquisition and protocols, normals, abnormals, case studies, and “what to do if” scenarios.
    • This course will cover a basic to intermediate level of the heart, encompassing anatomy, physics, principles, knobology, image acquisition and protocols, normals, abnormals, case studies, and “what to do if” scenarios.
  • Cardiac Only
    • The first three days will give you an understanding of the basics of Doppler physics and principles

This course is designed for Residents and Specialists that need 40 hours of abdominal ultrasound with a Boarded Radiologist to build their level of proficiency and satisify the requirements of the ACVIM.
  • NOT AN ACCREDITATION
    • This course is comprised of 4 weeks of onsite training spread out over a year’s time, taking the student from a Basic to an Advanced Imaging level in both abdomen and cardiac ultrasound. Anatomy, physics, principals, image acquisition and protocols, knobology, normals, abnormals, etc… are all addressed. Upon completion of the course, you will receive a Certificate of Completion in Advanced Imaging…this is not an accreditation. You will have multiple written tests, and a practicum each week, as well as a large number of homework cases to do between weeks. Click here for full details. Taught by board certified Radiologists, Cardiologists, Internists, and June Boon.
