Mettasound Veterinary Imaging
Robyn Roberts, RDMS
A native of New Jersey, Robyn Roberts completed her studies in ultrasonographic technology in 1996 at Elizabeth General School of Radiological Science. After passing board exams from the ARDMS (American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers), she received her Registered diagnostic medical sonographer status (RDMS).
For the first part of her career she developed her skill set as a sonographer working in high risk obstetrics and general radiology in the human medical field. Because of her deep love for animals, in 1997 she made the transition into the veterinary field and joined forces with Mark Skeels DVM, ABVP. He was the owner of Veterinary Imaging Associates, one of the highest volume mobile ultrasound practices in the country. VIA later merged with Sound-Eklin®, one of the leading companies in imaging. During her five-year tenure with Dr. Skeels, she not only performed an average of 15-20 exams per day, but also taught at veterinary ultrasound seminars across the country. In addition she had the opportunity to play a key role in the development of one of the first comprehensive telemedicine software programs.
In 2002, the radiology department of Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists hired and relocated Robyn to Houston, Texas to start a mobile service for the Houston region. She has been providing mobile ultrasound services to Houston area veterinarians for the past four years. Due to her desire to start her own business, she regretfully left GCVS in February 2006 to begin her new company Mettasound Veterinary Imaging.
